You’ll probably need a license for that? Where it stops being a kayak and starts to be a boat?

No need for speed! You hit a wake and you are going to flip! Plus you have to register the kayka in Texas, if place motor on it.

Pointed out elsewhere by me, Aliex, that what the motorized kayak world REALLY needs? It would be a one horsepower outboard weighing less than 20 lbs. that runs off of the little Propane camping canisters. Lehr has one around 2.5 HP (still too much) but it has been reviewed as "unreliable." And, Tohatsu has made a much better propane outboard . . . but it is 5 HP. Way too much power, too much weight for all but a few kayaks. If someone could make a reliable, propane powered, one-half to one HP outboard weighing less than 20 lbs.? It'd compete very well against the current electric motors and trolling motors. Brad

Funny how Marty Zoffingers mods with the swivel seat on a Pelican seemed to ride better then this production model that claims to be made for motors. They have quite a bit of work to do.

That's pretty darn impressive. What's most impressive is that it would eventually (at least start to) get on a plane even at higher speeds. That's a hull that's designed well for speed. A well equipped Jonny Boat is a true fishing machine — like with the standing bar, built-in trolling motor, a 2.5hp outboard, and then the Feelfree Gravity seat. That would be sweet. A little pricey, but sweet. Not really the boat for me — I'm more the motorized true kayak type, but still impressive.

Trim your outboard that's why the bow is Porpoising, also you need to move forward a bit too much wt towards the transom.

It seemed to go OK offshore. Can you do the offshore test with Honda 2.3hp which I think would be good combination with this boat. That's one small step for man!

Gas motors take away from the main appeal of kayaks imo. The ability to cruise along quietly and to be one with nature. Those one cylinder outboards are notoriously loud too

a good video of over powering ,,a little unstable ,,if it was as easy to put steering and throttle in the seating area as it is to put the motor on it it would be a little safer and a lot more user friendly not to mention more comfortable would be nice to have it in the middle of the bost

Awsome!! Now you’re talking!! I have been telling everyone that 2.5suzuki HP motor is the way to go!! I dont like those battery operated torquedo whatever, battery rans out of power? Gas motor keeps on running as long as you have gas. And its more powerful , you can cover more water for fishing!! I have a 2.5hp suzuki. I had it for a year now. I love it!

These are cool but it seems like a small aluminum jon boat would be a better option at this point. A 10 foot jon either flat bottom or a small V would have more room, more stability and you could have a second person. I just dont understand the market for these… but I guess its there.

If you put both legs in the kayak, one on each side of the pod, and twist at the waist you will have much better stability. I know as I have a 14 ft square back canoe with an 8 hp Honda. I have a similar seat set up and am a chubby 55 year old dude so it can be done.
    Gotta stay safe. Eh!
