When I was thinking about this trophy, I thought about the connection between
boating and drawing. In both of these activities you are free to choose what you will do and where you will go. I thought about the wake that follows a yacht, and the way they resemble lines on the paper. This inspiration became the trophy, with the cut-out symbolizes a yacht’s bow cutting
through the surface of the water and the bubbled glass is luminescent of the foamy wake
that the yacht creates. Art, craft and craftsmanship are for me complementary to the existing four elements. They are an essential part of our cultural identity and something important we must preserve.
