Coast Guard decommissions ship after 45 years of service

After 45 years of service… The Coast Guard Cutter “Rush” was de-commissioned this morning. Since 1968… “Rush” served a variety of roles including defense operations during the Vietnam War and counter narcotics patrol off Central and South America. Crew members equated today’s ceremony to a retirement party for a dear friend. DANTE VINCIGUERRA/ FINAL COMMANDING OFFICER OF RUSH 1:19:35 “THE BEST PART WAS TO SEE SO MANY FORMER RUSH CREW MEMBERS TURN UP AT THIS EVENT. THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES ON THE SHIP AND THE SERVICE ITSELF…THE COAST GUARD.” The former “Rush” crew will continue their responsibilities, but they’ll do so aboard the Coast Guard Cutter
