Deadly boating accident on Upper Holter Lake


Bertie’s say it’s likely weather played a role in a deadly boating accident today we head now to Lewis and Clark County where authorities say one person is dead and five others were taken to the hospital after two boats capsized on holter Lake this morning the Sheriff’s Office believes these small fishing boats were traveling close together when they capsized Lewis and Clark search and rescue the sheriff’s water emergency team and other emergency crews did respond the body of one male victim was recovered five other people were rescued and taken to Saint Peter’s Health and Helena those five people are in stable condition deputies say wind and blowing snow made conditions extremely difficult Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks will still be investigating the incident but again authorities say it’s likely weather played a role the conditions were obviously not the choice for anybody either recreation or even to do what we do professionally trying to do a rescue and we’re told that authorities say there was another boat nearby that was stranded against the rocks rescue crews were able to reach that boat and bring the people to safety
