DEER EVERYWHERE! Searching for a Giant Buck – DEER TOUR E16

DEER EVERYWHERE! Searching for a Giant Buck – DEER TOUR E16

what’s up guys welcome back to another
video quit laughing Logan you’re shaking the
camera no we last left you guys at the hunt from Zach he was on a real big buck
and he’s just been waiting for the correct conditions to go back there and
hunt that deer again he’s actually got those again tomorrow morning so he’s
going to go back into that spot I’m anxious to see what he comes up with but
in the meantime Ted and I had been out on the public land we had a crazy day of
hunting and we’re gonna show you all that action on today’s video I hope you
all enjoy it what’s up guys it’s the second day of
Iowa’s archery season it’s about 10 a.m. in the morning right now got my laptop
with me and I’m going in here to pull some cards on a trail camera that I set
up about a month ago walking in I’ve already seen some fresh roads a bunch of
fresh tracks and scrapes and stuff out in the field I’m looking for a
particular buck in this area a really big 9 pointer that if you all watched
the video journals last fall you’ll remember came in on me and corndog in
the middle of the rut and almost got a shot at him I’ve got a trail camera back
in here kind of along a scrape line exiting his bedding area that he used
the last October and the October before that and the October before that so I’m
hoping that he’s on this thing if he is we’re gonna adjust our tactics and then
come in this evening to try to set up on it alright guys it doesn’t look like
this deer is on this camera in the last month and a half which confirms a
variety of things for me I had it set up overlooking these trails leading down
into this real good bedding area and as you can see from some of these videos a
few of those Bucks are heading straight back into the bedding area in the
morning but I don’t have any videos of him so what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna
flip the sides I’m gonna head about a half a mile away to the back side of the
property and I’m gonna own a different bedding area of this evening so I’m
gonna copy this card quick get it back in the camera and then roll out of here
I’m not gonna move this camera though because at any point in the next few
weeks this thing start to change throughout October you can move into
that bedding area and then if we start picking him up right here we know to
hunt it well guys it’s October 2nd me and Ted are headed in after this big
buck I went in and pulled a camera earlier this morning didn’t have him on
it so we’re going to a different bedding area that’s deeper into the public land
I know he’s used this area before in years past because I’ve got pictures of
him in here and we’ve got the perfect wind to hunt it we scouted this whole area
before got a lot of confidence going into tonight’s it the only problem is
that we got to walk about a mile through these open hardwoods which isn’t too bad
and drop down into this Creek bottom behind me in order to get up for we’re
where I’m wanting to get set up we’re gonna be right up against a really thick
bedding area real close to a little pond every year that we’ve scouted it we
found a huge scrape right at the point of this bedding area and I’m wanting to
be within bow range of that scrape so me and Ted got another hour of walking so
we’re gonna get to it back in here to the initial spot I
wanted to get to and I’m not seeing what I want there’s no real fresh sign in Ted
did jump up a fawn on this pond on the way in and there’s some Blue Jays up and they’re
fussing in the middle of the bedding area wall rubs and old licking branches
down through here from past years but none of them have been opened up yet
where I was at this morning out on those beans
there were scrapes fresh tracks like the deer had been out there a bunch lately
and when we find the sign we’re gonna find them all but it’s just gonna be a
waste of time if we sit here tonight they’re not in here let’s keep moving they just tore this all up look down
here it’s all these fresh tracks and stuff
grated they’re probably doing this at night I think they’re coming from that
way cuz I cut some big tracks going in there earlier it’s worth shop let’s go
we don’t have long to get set up Wow it’s 6:03 and me and Ted are finally
set up we ended up walking like two and a half three miles with Stan’s on our
backs and we bounced from baton area to bedding area looking for some kind of
fresh sign and those are all bedding areas that we’ve hit so far today that
that big deer has used in the past we just did not see the sign so we pull it
out completely and we circled back around this is the same bean field that
I was in this morning when I actually walked through the middle of this field
and went back in these woods to check my camera and the only sign to speak up
that we found today is up around this bean field I mean there’s fresh tracks
all through it I’m not seeing boot tracks out on this field it’s possible
that there hasn’t been any hunting pressure in here in a couple of weeks
and that most of the deer are still bedded up here pretty close to the beans
there’s different bedding areas in and around this field and usually they get
burned up because this place gets hammered there’s always hunters on this
field but all that real secure bedding the stuff that’s remote that nobody ever
goes into we checked it today and they’re not in there at least I don’t
think they are cuz I didn’t see the sign we’re gonna hunt the freshest sign that
we found this evening that’s right here we’re in this little bitty toothpick
tree only about 18 off the ground it’s a good thing is we can see a long ways so
if he steps out on these beans tonight we ought to at least catch a glimpse of
him it’s a buck we got set up just in time well after all the shenanigans today we
managed to get filled up and we’re actually seeing deer its about 6:30 now
and I just saw in another buck actually two bucks another decent buck in a small
buck head out across the middle of this field that’s 30 bucks two little guys I
think we’ve seen five bucks and five or six down so far oh there’s more deer
coming out see you more dogs I believe you know they’re doing fine potentially yeah it’s a madhouse up here can you
even give you guys an update you got so many deer running around we got 3 bucks
that are getting ready to walk right in front of the Smurfs to those in a little
buck now across here yeah there’s more deer just came out oh we’ve got 10 or
11 deer right here in the field corner in front of us
unfortunately the field is the easiest part to access so it gets heavily hunted
it’s just by some oddball chance nobody’s been in here for a week or two
and these deer comfortable walking out in this video I think they’d be eating
more of them coming because they’re looking behind him still yep there’s
another one coming out by the Dell kudos jiminy Christmas two three
five oh yeah oh dang that is a good one
yeah I got pictures of him in velvet yeah I got videos ain’t involved Heck Ted thats a shooter what the heck dude whats going on he’s seen
something back there get ready ready what is that him why in the world this is the most bizarre evening I’ve
ever been a part of I’m assuming a coyote or something just came out in
that corner of Bob Katter cuz there’s no hunter back there at
least doesn’t mean there’s nobody parked down on the room they just ran him in
right here they’re standing in there 75 yards away I don’t think they’ve really
ran off very far oh there’s another deer they popped back out see it I’m sure
that’s all that’s this is ridiculous just have another bug come out looks
like a mature buck yeah that’s that’s our boy from earlier to you well it’s about the end of legal on the
entire about to climb down we just had another four or five those and falls
come out of this corner right here bias and it’s you rarely see us sitting on
these fields like this because it’s this is an anomaly for sure with it being
early in the season like this these deer may not have experienced any pressure at
least it didn’t look like it in the last few weeks
there are obviously bed and real closely beans and then going straight out in
their feed now and I didn’t find a ton of acorns earlier so no surprise
that are out here or they’ll go ahead and climb down on them try to get out of
here without booger Nate and we’re gonna have to really take our time and wait
till it gets dark and use their headlamps well Ted and I managed to make it out of
there without bumping any deer out of that field we just climbed down at dark
and then use the headlamps to skirt around the edge of the field they were
probably 250 300 yards away out in the beans and we didn’t hear anything take
off here anything blow so I’m assuming that we didn’t mess anything up the plan
moving forward we’re either gonna go right back to that same spot again or
there’s several others that I’ve been wanting to scout and get to so in the
next few days that’s probably what we’re going to be doing but the one thing
we’re noticing right now in our area there’s not a ton of acorns which is
much different than last year and these deer are in concentrated pockets as you
saw from tonight’s hunt out on the beans and zach is finding the
same thing just down the road with that alfalfa field when we have a heavy acorn
crop in our part of the country it seems to spread these Bucks out a little bit
and it doesn’t seem like that’s the case this year Ted and I walk like two miles
through the woods and didn’t hardly find a fresh rub and then you get up on that
bean field and there’s 40 deer in it you know so all the deer concentrated into
these pockets wherever there’s no pressure right now it’s early in the
season it’s been pretty warm very few people are hitting the woods because of
the quote-unquote October lull I don’t know but we’re out there and we’re
seeing deer so pretty optimistic for these next few hunts thank you guys for
joining us on this week’s video I want to also mention real fast that we have a
great promo code going on right now with Woodhaven custom calls if any of you
need a new rattle bag a bleat or grunt tube you can head over Woodhaven custom
calls comm use our promo code it’ll save you 10% our code is th p 2018 I believe
I’ll put a link down in the description below just expand that head over there

Hey guys I’m from Nebraska and love the vids. I am doing a report on why Nebraska should grow its public hunting land. If you guys would be interested in doing an interview with me that would be great! I know you are busy but five minutes or one email would be all I needed. Love the tour and thanks for your time.

As a public hunter I'm glad I found you guys. Tennessee is a tough place to hunt public land. Glad to see people having to deal with same stuff, and hunting in similar fashion

It seems you have to let the sign dictate your hunt. I can't count the times that you go into the deep woods make it all the way to the back of a piece of property just to realize you walked through the prime area. It is good to see I'm not the only one that does it. Great encounters and the experience led you to a new target buck. I have learned to love the unexpected. Thanks for bringin us on the journey. I'm really excited for yall.

79.99 for the Wood Haven classic grunt call. Wow even with 10% off that’s kinda steep. It may be a great call but that’s pretty expensive if you ask me.

During the video I can't help but laugh when Warb keeps saying no one has been back there in the last few weeks hunting when bow season is only 2 days old and prior to that only youth season was open! Starting Sept 1 has him in mid season form already. Pulling for you to find and put that big 9 down!

I am not trying to be condemning of what you guys are doing at all. If I could have done it myself, I might have. The fact is, you guys have more talent and drive than I do for the filming thing. But have you ever considered what negative impacts on the public ground Hunter you may have? I have two spots I have tried to keep on the total down low. And I know that at least one of those spots has at the very least come under more attention, "and probably more pressure" as a direct result of your channel. Maybe you guys take that comment as a huge complement. But for a guy like me who relies on a few well kept secret public ground

Secrets, it's not good. I just wonder what impacts monetizing the sport we both love will have long term. And it makes me feel a little sick, and nervous. Sorry my comments got split up. I think I hit the send button a time or two. I think what you guys do is awesome. But I don't think the results are going to be awesome for me.

What are your tactics for eliminating scent after all that walking!? I see you wear limited clothing but with the clothing used to get in there being exposed, I would think deer would blow out consistently and your videos prove that is not the case. Seems like packing jacket in and just spraying down? Running Ozonics? Any help on this would be appreciated as this is something I constantly struggle with on my trecs in.

How do you guys keep your cameras from walking away? Here in Northern Missouri, any camera or stand left accessible to the public seems to always grow feet and walk away.

Keep up the great work. I followed your spring turkey season series and loved it, now I am binge watching your deer tour (work and hunting gets in the way sometimes!).

Love it. Thumbs up before I even watch. Come to Michigan. Like to see what you guys pull out of the woods. Just across the pond.

you can read those cards on your cell phone, just get the adapter. Stealth cam sells one for like 15 bucks, it's on amazon.

Next time litely tickle some antlers and the bucks will approach and possibly give you a shot. Combine with a grunt or 2. Your set up seemed well covered.
    Awesome hunt Aaron.

I've been sitting at home with a banged up left ankle for almost 2 weeks now and just found your channel today. Needless to say I've been binge watching your hunting videos since I woke up this morning. Great videos, thanks for keeping my mind occupied and not thinking so much about the pain. I gotta say that y'all are the Real Deal when it comes to hard core bowhunting. Nobody I know would walk 3 miles into the woods to kill a nice buck, then spend the rest of the night quartering up that buck and back packing it out. I guess that's how you find out who your true friends are and it looks like you have plenty of them. Thanks for sharing.
