First time cruise tips – 5 Quick Cruise Tips For Formal Night

Hey cruisers welcome back to Vlogtoberfest welcome to the wild kingdom that is our backyard we’re so happy to be
talking about formal nights with you today and what I do want to say before
we get started today is if at the end of this video you still have questions
about formal night just leave them in the comments below and me or mr.
cruisetipstv or one of our awesome expert subscribers we’ll help you out
have no fear number one first tip that we have for
formal night is to check out your dress codes policy now with that said they’re
all pretty darn similar at least the mass market cruise lines are so with the
exception of a line that’s ultra formal like Cunard you’re going to find that
princess and Hull in America are probably a little more on the dressy
side celebrity two and Royal Caribbean Carnival and Norwegian are probably
gonna fall under the slightly more flexible dress codes for formal night
but there is a huge variety and as we’ll talk about in a few minutes you have a
lot of freedom as well you guys so number one check out that policy number
two those of you who like to pack light don’t hesitate to repeat your clothes
guys what does that mean well for gentlemen it might mean that if you have
two formal nights on a 7-night cruise maybe you’ll pack one pair of slacks and
then to accompany that perhaps to nice or formal button-up shirts and two
different ties but you’re saving a little space in the suitcase by only
packing one pair of pants and one pair of dressy shoes right for ladies that
might mean that you could actually repeat your formal dress and really mix
up the accessories think about it you might find you can be a little more
creative there than you thought number three I’m a broken record I know you’ve
heard me say this before and it applies to the whole cruise but you need to keep
those shoes comfy guys and gals ladies no trying out your brand new sexy
diamond crusted stilettos from Jimmy Choo on formal night pack something
that’s worn in or wear it in before the cruise there is no way that you are
going to be happy if you are trying to get from the dining room to the theater
in uncomfortable shoes so just trust me on that one okay alright number four if
you plan to iron on formal night and if your ship even has a laundry service
don’t save that ironing job for right before dinner on formal night because
guess what everybody else is the same thing so again trust me on that
one to number five and this is the most important tip you guys you’ve done all
your research you’ve read the cruise line policy you’ve gone shopping but the
bottom line is you need to dress in what makes you feel comfortable and confident
beautiful handsome whatever that may be you have a lot of very you have a lot of
freedom in what you wear ladies you can wear pants on formal night you can wear
a lovely pair of slacks and a nice dressy shirt and some beautiful shoes
you do not have to wear a ball gown gentlemen you do not have to wear a tux
you don’t even have to wear a spoke a sport coat on most lines with some
exceptions make sure you read that policy for gentlemen a tie a dress shirt
and slacks are perfectly acceptable acceptable and again ladies you do not
have to go all out in the ball gown you’re gonna see everything from little
black dresses to cocktail dresses to ball gowns to people who look like
they’re going to prom and then maybe a few sundress is sprinkled in with nice
shoes so have fun with it be creative and if you don’t want to go
to formal night dinner in the main dining room and you’re supposed to dress
up you probably don’t have to your ship probably has tons and tons of other
options so thank you so much for tuning in today thanks for listening to all the
sounds of wildlife in our backyard we really are enjoying vlog Tober fest

Ok, I hope this comment isn't a duplicate. My phone is being wacky. I've made this comment before. If you decide you'd rather not attend formal night head to a hot tub or pool. You most likely will have it to yourselves .It can be very romantic under the night stars. ⛴🍷🍸🍹💕💘

As a 1st timer on an 8 day Carnival cruise, I want to know: 1) Who chooses formal night? 2) Do you pay extra? 3) What does dining at 8:15 wait list mean? I'm assuming that formal night means ordering from a menu. 🙂

Can you wear flip flops ? I have seen yes and no. They’re not the runner colorful ones you wear to the beach they are nice leather flip flops .

Any tips on Kids? Is formal night only for adults and is the dress code the same for kids. With a 14 and 10 year old sons, this is gonna be interesting. I can hear their moans in my head already.

Ok, this is why we always end up at dinner on formal night with some guy in shorts and a tank top. Understand, it is “formal night”. No, pants are not formal attire for women, bring a dress. And no, slacks and a polo shirt is not formal attire for men, that is business casual. Do all of us a favor if you are dressing down on formal night, go eat at the buffet or take a Carnival Cruise where you will fit in.

My husband was able to bring one nice pair of pants and two dress shirts with one pair of dress shoes. We were celebrating a couple of birthdays and our wedding anniversary on a big family trip. I packed a mix and match of a a few tops and slacks/skirts. I brought different options for shoes as well for each of the celebration dinners, and the Gala Night (we were onboard for a great New Years Eve Gala Dinner and party). I brought an extra carry on to accommodate the extra outfits and shoes for the special occasion dinners. Worth carrying an extra bag to accommodate more options. It was a 10 day cruise and the extra shoe options also helped when I was experiencing unexpected swollen ankles.

The only advantage to being in a wheelchair now is I can wear tallest heels I want and they don’t hurt. Ha!!!!! Rest of me hurts but I can look great for the formal nights. Oh and wait a minute wearing white trousers that you wouldn’t walk around in because of VPL ha another bonus. Ooh and not walking miles up and down, in the past with my condition had to stay in cabin because dinning hall too far away. Downside can’t get off the ship, darn’t go near the shops with glass displays, can’t do sports or dance classes. Also can’t eat everything in sight because I can’t exercise it off. We sulk if we can’t get away. There are not many ‘ how to do a cruise in a wheelchair tips.’ ie How if you get off the ship easily and then what to do when you return the ship as it will be at a different level in relation to the dock and the tide. This meant for us that wheelchair had to be dragged up gangplank, over the sticking up wooden slats by crew. Bouncing off each one injuring my back. ( no didn’t complain or put a claim in, no ones fault just nature) we don’t risk getting off at all now we go for the Cruise only and you can see an awful lot from the ship. Enjoy your next cruise.

I am wearing a black jumpsuit and very "dressy" flip flops.  Is this acceptable for formal night?
