NBC 6s Laura Rodriguez reports. An 8 year old girl has died from her injuries more than a week after she was shot by her father, a U.S. Coast Guard serviceman, Miami Dade police confirmed Tuesday. The girl was hospitalized at Nicklaus Children”s Hospital in critical condition. Her mother and 7 year old brother in southwest Miami Dade. Further information was not immediately available. Investigators say 44 year old John Presnar started shooting during a domestic dispute with his wife at their home in the 1140 block of SW 242 Lane in Miami. NBC 6s Nathalia Ortiz has more as investigators work to figure out why the father opened fire on his family before turning the gun on himself. When the gunfire began, the wife told her mother to run out of the house and call for help. Officers arrived to find Presnar”s wife and his son dead from gunshot wounds and Presnar dead from a self inflicted gunshot. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, Presnar worked at the Coast Guard base in Miami Beach. The agency said Presnar had served with the agency since March 2001.
