How to Buy Speed Boats : Negotiating Speed Boat Prices

Negotiating the price of a boat varies from
dealer to dealer and product to product. The higher end the boat, it seems like the less
negotiations there are, and that’s because there’s a certain type of clientele that’s
willing to spend that big money on a speed boat, and they do have a lot of customers
and a limited amount of production is there. Where the smaller boats, eighteen to twenty-four
foot boats, there’s so much competition and so many different products out there, it is
a very good sized boat to negotiate on. There might be anywhere from a hundred fifty to
two hundred manufacturers that make eighteen to nineteen foot boats, so when you start
getting into the the eighty to a hundred thousand dollar plus there might be only ten locally
from you that actually build boats up in that size, in that price range. So, one thing you
want to look at when you’re negotiating. First thing you want to do is go on line, see what
a manufacturer’s retail price is for that product. When you go to the dealer, make sure
everything kind of jives and matches up. Then you want to find out if there’s any promotions
going on, if they’re offering any factory rebates, if a boat show is coming up soon–because
these are typically the times when the dealerships going to be willing to negotiate and give
you the most money–the most product and the most price for your money.
