My FIRST new boat! [Yacht Refit & Restoration Week 85] (Ep.94)

My FIRST new boat! [Yacht Refit & Restoration Week 85] (Ep.94)

so the engines coming to an end we’re
getting close to it putting in. What’s happening bra? Not much man, It’s good to see you guys.. likewise! so we’ve got something and now this week
we’re gonna show you what it is. Hey.. man! Just want to say a big thanks to everyone
that has supported us and in particularly these two people
Louis and Alta they sent us a mail we needed an outboard motor and they’ve
supplied us with one we drove to their house and we came and collected and
that’s our new outboard motor so super stoked and and it’s a four-stroke nice
little four-stroke thank you guys so much really appreciate it and and the
help and support that you guys giving us it’s freaking amazing
thank you so much thanks so much Louis & Alta appreciate it tremendously. I’m super excited. So tomorrow we’re gonna test out our dinghy. Lets get to it. so we’ve got something and now this week we’re gonna show you what it is a dinghy
from Vetus we present to you the Vetus 2.7 meters
Traveler Ricky changed the oil and fuel and cleaned out the carburetor on the
outboard before we tested her out. she’ll get a full service before we
depart Oh, it’s a photo! *Laugh* Start of…. hey man! come back Okay.. hop on! It’s the perfect tender! It’s lekker. It’s good to go You got to turn. Turn.. Simone’s 101 lesson on dinghy driving You’re doing good. Here’s our dinghy a you saw we took it for a spin. She’s made of heavy duty PVC and is light weight and easy to handle when loading or
off loading. Another cool feature here is that it’s got a kill strip protection and double PVC on the
pontoons for wearing layers, that’s super nice and that’s like really really
thick rubber on there! how did you fold your blady burrito? Clearly not good…it’s like sleeping bags they never go back in. They don’t go back in the same way you bought them. So after we got back from dinghy ride Simone decided that she
wants to send people for a swim we lost our keys down in the bottom so we’re
gonna send Duncan, he’s the guinea pig to go fetch the keys. So no sucess with that.. diving and I think we’ll have to send Duncan on another diving course he can’t blady open his eyes underwater
so thanks Vetus for the dinghy thanks Louie and Alta for our outboard motor
super stoked and we really appreciate the help and it’s a cool dinghy by the way
guys if you’re if you’re looking if you guys are in the market for a dinghy
and you want to get something that’s lightweight portable and easy to get around
that’s what we wanted, we want it be a lightweight one and by chance Vetus
sent us the exact kind of one that we wanted it’s super lightweight and all
inflatable with inflatable keel which allows it to get on a plane with the two
of us and I’m a fatty hey so that worked well, we both fatties! so thank you guys Cheers
thank you! show me the money take it off Dinghy prep gone and hopefully this week window
and cabinet shades to! This weekend yo mean.. cause Ricky is working on other people’s boats
so we can make the money! So we jet setting off to Pretoria this weekend my
brother is getting married in October so Ricky’s the groomsman and we need to go
get his suit fitted and my mom said why don’t I come with so she bought my
ticket to go with to go and visit and just catch up with family take a good
break, our batteries are a little flat at the moment so are we gonna go and
just have a good weekend with the family see everyone again and then we’ll get
come back and get those last nine tasks done but first a quick bite to eat
before departure morning bra! not much, it’s good to see you guys, likewise! It was so nice to see the family again so where did you go to the RC store.
We got some stuff almost bought a drone almost , ampur! so why did you go to the RC store? To getRusell some stuff.. who’s Russel? My brother There’s Russel. Russel is busy making a drone , a racing drone.. which color do you prefer? Pink obviously.. pink props. Yes! That’s what happens when Ricky flies things That’s why I don’t fly stuff anymore. Russ.. you got one engine..Fail safe. Okay bell. Good girl! Bentley.. speak! speak! Good boy! Bang bang. Bang bang! Good boy!! Down… stay! Legs! Good boy, good girl! that is my show for you guys. This is Lexus, she’s the girl in the family. and they were gonna be sailor dogs but
then my mom said she wants to keep them so it’s bad enough that two of our babies
were already going on the ocean let alone taking four Melky vir al die kinders* (Milk for all the children)My mom spoiles us with a three course meal before the departure back home So we on our way to the airport
We’re sad! Ricky’s extra sad because we don’t want to go back to work saying bye to
family is the toughest thing about this journey better get the boat finished I need to show you
guys this so we were in Pretoria and we came back and I’m busy editing so I can
get the new episode up but what do you think Ricky is doing? what are you doing? Russel gave me a
radio so I can practice flying fpv future videos so the engines coming to an end
we’re getting close to it and one of the major things that that I need to do
still is service this leg and we’ve painted her and we’ve rebuilt her if you haven’t
check that episode check it out right in the beginning and this is one of the
other ones another episode about the leg and it’s pretty much going from top
to bottom checking everything checking all the seals replacing the bottom end
seals replacing the o-rings in between where the joints are and just overall
just giving it a thorough thorough service greasing all the points
replacing grease nipples if we need to and just make sure that everything is in
tip-top shape before we we get ready to to get installed after quite some time finally got this
out and the reason I took it off There is a seal in here, right over there, that’s never been replaced I think even the previous guy he decided he’s not gonna
open it it’s gonna be too much work and I need to get to that seal to replace it
and then on the bottom end the first seal was completely shot there’s no oil in
there’s no water in the gearbox but the bottom seal was completely shot so good
that we opened it up now we checked it out now we’ll buy all the seals that we
need and rebuild it all together and change the gear ratio hopefully so we see if we
can get a supplier that can give us the gear ratio with a mated set and then
we’ll stick them in and hopefully all will be good so yeah all the gears that
we’ve taken opened up and everything looks to be in very good condition with
like minimal wear none of them are shiny all the faces you can still see a
lot of the machining marks so figure this thing hasn’t hasn’t really
worked hard none of it has really worked odd except for the guy that left the O
ring out of here we got a high-pressure non braided lines
crimp with stainless steel fittings for our water maker When it’ moves, it has been crimped. when you crimp touch it here, you can feel it
just moves that’s when it’s done subscribe below if you haven’t ready
give this video a thumbs up and share it to your friends and family.. you’re gonna make me die. I’m winning.. don’t let your husband’s get video games
what else must they do check how i’m winning and what else must they do..
I’m winning.. you’d like to support our production click the link below
Cheers

Just wondering but if you are low on cash right now, how are you going to earn some when you are on the water?

    Teasing with the water maker!

Good thinking replacing all the seals now while you have it out. Skipping that one that the other owners did would more than likely become a major nuisance later on.

I'm guessing that you'll only store the dinghy rolled up if not sailing? (Storage while away from the boat or out of the water?)

    Keep the videos coming! 😃

Thanks guys can vouche for the Suzuki outboard i have the smaller DF2.5 it has been a great unit. First 4 stoke outboard i have owned, i know they are heavier and u can only lay them a certain way but i wouldn't go back. It starts on the first or second pull from cold. It is nearly 10 year old now if memory serves me right and all i have ever done is serviced it 👍👍👍⛵🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Don't be too critical on Duncan not finding your keys as I have come to the conclusion that no matter how accurately you know where you dropped something in the water there is either a black hole down there or the tidal flow is such that it displaces the object some distance away in just falling through a few feet of water.

Hi. Ricky: Since I have the very same outdrive-configuration on Thelxinoe: Are you using that VP270 tilt-motor, to get the driveleg out of the water? With this 10"-extension we have, I doubt, that it would be powerful enough and anyway, there was none installed on Thelxinoe, when I bought her. So my solution for the moment is just a rope, to pull it up under sail, as it was before. Awkward, but will still have to see, how and if it really works.

I have an idea, a suggestion, you have created from the Lady Africa, a rough diamond, the most beautiful and with no money in the world to pay diamond. How about adding a stylized diamond to the name of this wonderful ship? This stylized diamond would also, I think, honor your work this way!

Ricky you are supposed to fix things not break them! That poor drone. It is amazing all of the skills you have learned in the process of rebuilding Lady Africa and how well you have done everything. Looking forward to seeing that engine get installed. Both of you take care and have a great weekend ahead.

Thank you Vetus, Louis and Alta. It's great to see people helping each other. Another hit and feel good video. Happy you remember to reload the batteries. You have no idea how amazed we are when looking at your achievements in this project.
And the best part: through all the challenges, the fun times, the tough times, you managed to stay great (humble, grateful, helpful and kind to each other and the people around you).
Well it's simply coming full circle because good things happen to good people.
