Sturgeon Bay man dies in boating incident


((ERIN)) A 68-YEAR-OLD STURGEON BAY MAN WAS FOUND DEAD IN LAKE SUPERIOR THIS MORNING. ST. LOUIS COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICIALS IDENTIFIED THE MAN AS DONALD JAMES SARTER. 59-YEAR-OLD DONALD SLATER AND 50 YEAR-OLD RANDALL CORTSEN WERE ABOARD A BOAT WITH SARTER BEHIND THE WHEEL – WHEN WATER FLOODED THE ENGINE – AND THE BOAT FLIPPED OVER IN THE HIGH WAVES.. SLATER AND CORTSEN WERE ABLE TO REACH SHORE AND GET HELP — AND SARTER WAS LATER FOUND BY DULUTH FIREFIGHTERS. ACCORDING TO ONE OF THE MEN INVOLVED, ALL WERE WEARING LIFE JACKETS AT THE TIME BUT NOT ZIPPED TOGETHER IN THE FRONT.
