U.S. Coast Guard continues search for plane crash survivor off Miami-Dade


the cargo plane crashed in the Atlantic Ocean off Surfside the Coast Guard raced to the scene they rescued one of the people on board but a second person is still out there missing let’s get right to look at the news reporter Andrew Perez on this story in Miami Andrew let me tell you that survivor according to authorities is so incredibly lucky and when you see more video of that wreckage you’ll understand why as you mentioned right now the crews at this hour they’re fanned out searching for one more person crews come upon the wreckage a wing floating in the water the Coast Guard quickly moving in spotting a bright yellow raft and a man needing help it’s about 13 miles east of Bay Harbor Islands crews get down to the guy they secured him they started hosting him up before rushing him to the hospital he had some lacerations he was able to put himself in the rescue basket the pilots on scene were out on a training mission his face is bandaged he’s cut up it’s unclear what his injuries are though authorities say he was one of two people believed to be on board that convair plane according to the FAA it was a Conquest air cargo flight that left Nassau Bahamas and was headed to Miami opa-locka executive airport when the pilot reported trouble and tried to land in the water the plane now appears to be upside down it’s assessing a two engine aircraft similar to this one and the Coast Guard continues to search for at least one more person tonight trying to take advantage of the good search conditions out there today what we have daylight shortly we’ll be launching another aircraft to head out there and look for that survivor and the carbo cargo company Conquest air releasing a statement saying their thoughts are with those families are with those employees as well authorities right now say that they will continue to search until they feel they’ve exhausted all efforts that’s latest so here in Miami I’m Andrew Perez local 10 News
